Extinction Rebellion is a global environmental movement. It's Bay Area chapter needed to spread their message further to attract more volunteers so I conceived of a monthly series on Instagram (@xrsfbay) that consists of action updates as well as local and global climate news to engage and inform the community.
I created the thumbnails for our series, with clear, large text for easy identification and a prominent Extinction Rebellion logo.
Each episode is designed to take the viewer on a walk through nature. Shots are stable and wide, framing the human subject (me) and the environment together, provoking the audience to consider humanity’s relationship to the natural world.
The soundscape seldom includes music, consisting mostly of diegetic nature noises. This contrasts with the overstimulating din of people’s IG feeds and also hopefully triggers viewers’ positive memories of time spent in nature, reminding them why we fight for the environment in the first place.
I designed this poster for ‘pinnies’ worn by Extinction Rebellion Activists as they occupied Wells Fargo’s San Francisco headquarters to protest the bank’s investment in new oil and gas projects across the country. I coined the rhyming headline, “Wells Fargo/The money you lend/ Will be our end.”
